(Passado Simples) Passado dos verbos regulares - tem a terminação ED no Simple Past e Past Participle.

Passado dos verbos irregulares - apresentam formas variadas no Simple Past e Past Participle. Ex.:
to begin – began – begun / to come – came – come / to eat – ate – eate /
to go – went – gone / to see – saw – seen / to take – took - teken / to
write – wrote - written O Simple Past é usado para expressar ações completamente terminadas no passado. Obs.: No Simple Past a forma do verbo é a mesma para todas as pessoas.
Interrogative and negative form
Usa-se o auxiliar Did - para todas as pessoas.
I didn’t go fishing yesterday
He didn't study English at school.
Did they love their children ?
Did she write a long love letter last ? Past Continuous
(Passado Contínuo) Formação:
Simple Past do verbo to be + ing formdo verbo principal. Exs.:
My mother was sleping when I got home.
The girls were walking downtown when I met them. O Past Continuous é usado para indicar urna atividade ou situação que estava se desenvolvendo no momento em que uma outra ação a interrompeu. Exs.:
I was watching TV while my wife was preparing dinner. O Past Continuoustambém é usado para mostrar duas ações que estavam acontecendo simultaneamente, no passado.
Past simple; Used for completed actions and events in the past. Usado para acções e eventos no passado. Ex; I/we/you/they/he/she/it arrived ( did not arrive)
Past continuous/progressive; Used for actions or events in the past that were not yet finished or that were interrupted. Usado para acções ou eventos no passado, que não tenham sido completados ou que foram interrompidos. EX; I was arriving ( I was not arriving) we/you/they were arriving ( were not arriving) he/she/it was arriving ( was not arriving).
